Alexander Sarcophagus detail plaque
This is a sculptural detail of famous Alexander Sarcophagus now in the Archeological Museum at Istanbul.
On one of the four panels of the sarcophagus Macedonians and Persians are hunting wild animals
together, with the help of dogs. On the rest of the panels, Macedonians and Persians are fighting each
other. Here the sculptor carved out the figure of the Macedonian king Alexander the Great riding his horse
Buchephales fighting a Persian.
