Alexander the Great Sarcophagus Sacrophagus Large Plaque (Battle Scene)

This is one of the four panels of the Alexander Sarcophagus, the battle scene showing Macedonians disintegrating the Persian cavalry and infantry. This is the most beautiful plate of the Alexander Sarcophagus. It shows Alexander the Great on a horse wearing his lion's head dress (the first figure), Alexander's closest Companion Hephaestion is also on horse in the middle of the plate, and the Macedonian general Perdiccas (the last figure, also on horse). This ancient sculpture masterpiece is now hand-sculpted and for the first time offered to the modern collector of ancient art.
